Miyazaki Trip: Day III
On our last day, we drove to Udo Shrine, a Shinto Shrine located on the coast of Nichinan.
A storm was brewing as we hiked down to the shrine.
Kaz and Hugo tried their luck throwing stones into the pond on the turtle shaped rock.
Udo Shrine is built inside a cave!
It's pretty dark in the cave.
Elephant-thingy and lion-dragon-horse thingy!!
It is said to have been first built in 782.
I was impressed how the builders built the shrine around the cave, and the roof is shaped to the rocks.
Miyazaki, you were cool.
I'll be back again for sure.
