FLM SCN: Waikamoi Ridge Trail
This summer I was lucky enough to go hiking on the boardwalk in the Waikamoi Ridge Forest and took some film snaps with my trusty Konica ACOM-1. Although we couldn't spot any rare birds that day, we could see a plethora of native and indigenous plants while enjoying the crisp mountain air.
A gorgeous old growth 'ohia lehua tree stands surrounded by ferns, like the multi-colored amau'u.
A red dragonfly takes a break on an 'a'ali'i leaf.
Little sister being cute.
Li hing mui (cracked preserved plum seed) is a standard snack for Hawaii kids.
Get one lemon, put one crack seed in it; stay 'ono.
I'm lichen it.
Doesn't look like Hawaii, does it?
That's the beauty of micro-climates and island living!
